Mercedes-AMG has presented a new livery for its GT R FIA Formula 1 safety car, which incorporates design elements that symbolize unity and the sportâs commitment for diversity and inclusion. The car will be seen at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, with rainbow visuals and the âWeRaceAsOneâ hashtag that will be featured on all F1 cars and around the racetrack. The âDrive Safelyâ lettering will continue to adorn the hood, reminding fans âto always drive in a careful and considerate wayâ. Power comes from the twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 577 HP (585 PS / 430 kW) and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm) of torque, rocketing it to 62 mph (100 km/h) in seconds from a standstill (0-60 mph in sec) and up to a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h). In addition to the GT R safety car, the official FIA F1 medical car, the AMG C63 S Estate, has embraced the new design that comprises of the rainbow flag and âWeRaceAsOneâ hashtag, and will head over to Austria this weekend too. That will now be replaced by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series for half the races as Mercedes continue to share Safety Car duties with Aston Martin, just as they did last year. In addition, the AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ will be used as the medical car for the season. At the front, three small orange light modules and one large green module are positioned on each side of the AMG logo, level with the sun visors which will be used in various points throughout a race.
